HBPR&A represents an investment in your most important asset. It’s a commitment to survival decision-making. It creates a strategic advantage.
I created Human Behavior Pattern Recognition & Analysis (HBPR&A) more than 50 years ago as an experiment; one grounded in necessity, not theory.
I grew up in East Detroit. I served as a police officer in metropolitan Detroit and deployed with the United States Army. Across those experiences, I encountered environments defined by uncertainty, volatility, and risk.
In critical moments, I saw a consistent failure: individuals and organizations were unable to recognize danger until they were already overwhelmed by it.
After each operational exposure, I studied what went wrong. I examined the seams, the gaps, and the breakdowns. I investigated the confounds and constraints that led to missed signals and fractured decision-making. These fissures created disconnects in information processing and dysfunction in leadership, communications and intelligence development.
Over time, I tested countless approaches, measuring both success and failure against the foundations of psychology, physiology, and sociology. From that work, I identified universal principles of human behavior.
One of the most critical: intent is demonstrated in ways that are acultural.
In fact, the skillset I developed has been taught across the globe. 53 countries and counting.
The practical application of my insights became known as being “Left of Bang”, a position of awareness before an event unfolds. Those who embraced it called it The Gift of Time & Distance.
It is intangible; colorless, odorless, weightless - yet it delivers a decisive cognitive advantage in any encounter.
HBPR&A has evolved into the industry standard for reading human behavior in real time in order to assess intent.
HBPR&A has endured not because it is theoretical, but because it has been tested repeatedly by operators in demanding, real-world conditions:
- In combat zones
- Outside the wire
- On contested and semi-permissive streets
- In academic institutions
- Across corporate environments
It has matured through challenges.
Not in theory, but in practice.
I founded Arcadia Cognerati to steward that capability. To ensure HBPR&A is continuously refined, protected, and responsibly transferred. Ours is a disciplined, deliberate process, akin to a parent developing the potential of a child.
For over five decades, this work has created and developed practitioners across military, law enforcement, and corporate sectors, in schools and at home that are faster, stronger, smarter, safer, and harder to kill.
If you are seeking a cognitive advantage, a strategic edge, then I invite you to work directly with the pioneers of this discipline.
You don’t want to learn from someone who studied HBPR&A, you want to learn from those who created it.
