What keeps you up at night?
When we train local, state, or federal law enforcement, we ask our students to tell us the three things they worry about most.
The three most common answers are:
At Arcadia, we believe we can help with all three of these problems!
The majority of unlawful use of force cases comes down to a failure in human performance, specifically cognitive performance.
Gaining the Cognitive Edge
The supervisors, officers and support personnel of your organization, department, or agency, will leave our training course with the increased ability to sense-make and problem-solve in their environment. Those skills will empower your personnel with the Gift of “Time and Distance.”
Simply put, you will make better decisions under stress.
“Our training is not a materiel or technical solution, it is advanced human perception and understanding.”
Tactical, Operational, & Strategic Success
Our scientifically validated training methodology, coupled with our dynamic pedagogy, will develop proficiency in the following areas.
Tactical Observation
Tactical observation means those critical observations and perceptions from all of your senses while en route and once arriving at the scene of an incident. In our courses, you will learn how to be a better witness while developing a clear operational picture of potential threats within their area of responsibilities.
You will develop the ability to understand the difference between threatening and non-threatening behavior in real-time, and you will be able to articulate the actions that led you to the reasonable conclusions supporting the decisions you made.
Tactical observation extends to dispatch and supervisory personnel as well. It stresses how to get the most out of witness observations or suspect actions and use cognitive processes to ask the right questions and give the right answers under stressful situations.
Verbal and Written Communication
While it is understood that course attendees are beholden to use their agency policy to guide them regarding how, when, and what to report; this essential cognition-based training gives them the ability to use a common legal, ethical and scientific lexicon in order to articulate artifacts and evidence that led them to the reasonable conclusion that a threat is likely or unlikely.
The ability to read human behavior in real-time and cull the artifacts and evidence to support your reasonable conclusions from those observations and perceptions is essential during job interviews, witness, or criminal interviews and interrogations.
Our training takes the mystery out of body language, paralanguage, psychological stances, and human behavior patterns in order to help you and your personnel articulate facts with scientific reasonability.
De-Escalation
Course attendees will learn psychological de-escalation techniques that can be used to prevent or mitigate the effects of a dangerous or deadly encounter and will also learn how to implement a de-escalation strategy.
Sometimes Law Enforcement, First Responders or Security Professionals don’t know when to wait. They don’t understand the need for tactical patience. But sometimes they fail to act even when all of the pre-event indications determine a decisive need for action.
Our unique training gives you the additional ability to articulate the NEED for the ACTION chosen, based on tangible, articulable artifacts and evidence supporting the most likely (ML) and most dangerous courses of action (MDCOA)..
A Legal, Moral, & Ethical Framework
Subsequent Testimony
Our training is based on sound, vetted, scientific principles and comes with a simple, defensible lexicon. Your personnel will be able to testify to facts using an artifact and evidence-based description of the pre-event indicators and human behavior patterns which led to their actions and decisions.
This simple system makes it easy for Prosecutors, Defense attorneys, Judges and Juries to fully understand WHAT prompted your intervention and WHY you chose the subsequent course of action.
